This is a KS3 design and make project aimed at year 8s so it is also suitable for lower ability Year 9s and higher ability year 7s. It includes a teachers booklet complete with CD and a full 10 week scheme of work, with comprehensive lesson plans and all the printable resources needed for those lessons.

Smart Bear is made from recycled fleece and is multifunctional. When folded he is everyone's favourite teddy bear. The panel on his tummy (the part the students' design) is painted using thermochromatic pigments, therefore at 27 degrees certain parts of the design will disappear or change colour. In his folded state he can also be used as a hand muff, when unfolded he becomes a small blanket and the opposite side is a changing mat. The pack contains 5 x 5ml syringes of thermochromic pigments and a 400ml tube of acrylic base, which should be enough for a whole class.
